Marvel Funko Plush Join The Ranks Of DC And Lord Of The Rings

Looking through Big Bad Toy Store today, I came across these Funko plush up for pre-order. I’ve posted before about the Lord of the Rings versions as well as the DC vinyl versions of these guys. Now, they’ve gone and made the line-up from Marvel. As you can see above, they went with the yello wcostume Wolverine which was always my personal favorite. They also have a pretty mean looking Hulk,

which when paired with Wolverine allows you to recreate their world famous original battle from the mid 70′s in all of it’s plushy goodness.

all together their are six of these guys with the other four being, Captain America, Iron Man, Spider Man, and Thor. You can check them out in the gallery below and pre-order them from Big Bad Toy Store for $9.99 each, with an early April release.

Galactus Riding A Dog

Hey, maybe if this was how he appeared in the Fantastic Four movie, it wouldn’t have sucked so much. Just a thought. (via Geeks Are Sexy)

Raiders Of The Lost Ark Comic Strip Is Better Than Indiana Jones 4

That title really isn’t saying much because boy did that last Indy movie really suck. There’s nothing I can say that expresses it as well as South Park so enjoy.

So now that that beautiful scene is in your head we can look at the comic strip above as a wonderful triumph of the human spirit. The strip was created by Chuck Forsman and he has prints available for purchase. This makes that abortion of a movie a little more tolerable though I’m sure George will find some other way to fuck his properties up. Maybe he can release the Star Wars movies in 3-D. (via Boing Boing)

Spider-Man Beaded Head Lamp Is Just The Right Amount Of Kitsch

“I like lamp.” No really, I like lamp. I saw this at a thrift store and it was just too stupid looking (and cheap) to pass up. It’s sort of like a bobble-head with the spring it sits on.  It also has that classic Ditko style head. It’s made of a bunch of plastic beads and the lines look hand drawn. I thought maybe it was a bit older as it was somewhat dirty, but with some internet Matlockery I found out it’s not all that rare. You can get a new one on Amazon if you’d like though the price-tag is a little steep. I guess it’s supposed to be a kid’s nightlight but I think it will fit right in with my man-toys. In the meantime check it out lit up.

Custom Galactus Stands At 18″ Tall And Will Eat The World… If By World You Mean Gumball

I’ve made obvious before my affection for custom toys here, here, here, and wow, even here. And even though this is just a custom paint job it still looks great. The toy itself is from the Marvel Universe line of toys which are the 3.75″ line of toys. It looks like Hasbro has taken the G.I. Joe formula and ran with it. I was always a fan of the G.I. Joe figures from the 80′s so these would have been right up my alley. The Galactus is scaled to the Silver Surfer figure who I must say is heralding quite well and actually comes with the Galactus figure in the retail version. Here’s what the two retail ones look like just for reference:

At 18″ he’s pretty big and I’m doing all I can to not run out to Toys R’ Us and grab this guy. Currently the custom one is up on eBay with a current bid of $58 and less than four days to go. If you’d like to get the retail versions check out Big Bad Toy Store and check the pics below for some more detailed shots. (via Tomopop)

DC Comic’s Character Hoodies Border On Cool

I love to wear my nerd cred on my sleeve, sometimes my chest, or even in this case, my hood. I came across these beauties on Big Bad Toy Store as they are up for pre-order with an October release. The old school style of the characters is great and gives you that added throwback cred that everyone loves. I never actually read the DC comics as I was more of a Marvel kid but no one else needs to know that ‘cuz as long as wear these I at least look like I’m in the know. They are priced at a reasonable $39.99 and come in Joker, Batman, and Superman flavors. So head on over and get your reserve on.

Wookie The Chew Is An Inspired Mashup Of Two Of The Best Things Ever

An artist by the name of James Hance has just released a self published work titled, Wookie The Chew: The House At Chew Corner, that takes inspiration from A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh and Gearge Lucas’ Star Wars. This is a mashup of epic proportions and the illustrations are just adorable. I’m tempted to order this book as it’s only $5 which seems like a steal. You can contact Mr. Hance through his e-mail to order a copy. His work is just amazing and he also has some great prints up at his website. Check out this He-Man/Muppets mash-up affectionately titled “He-Frog & Snuffle Cat”:

24 Hour Marston Nails Some Of The Funnier Moments in Red Dead Redemption (Inside Joke Warning)

Red Dead Redemption was my favorite game this year so far. It was the Western game I had always dreamed of but had never experienced. I implore you to check this game out if you have any love for Westerns of any sort from John Wayne to Sergio Leone to anything in between. The game had quite a bit of somewhat unintentionally funny moments. That’s the reason this comic strip is so goddamn funny. The picture up there is a of a cougar attacking John Marston. Those fucking things would pop out of nowhere and instantly maul you to death and kill your prized horse as well. The whole web comic set can be seen at 24 Hour Marston and is a good laugh of course you probably should have played the game to get it. Hey, not all these posts can be winners, right? (Via Kotaku)

Venomsaurus Rex Is An Amazing Amalgamation Of Cool… Even Though It Jumps The Shark (Or T-Rex If You Like)

That right there is what is known as a “Jump The Shark” moment in comic book lore. The Venomsaurus Rex is a creature from the “Old Man Logan” storyline that took place in the monthly Wolverine series and just so happens to be a cross between a T-Rex and the Venom symbiote that plagued Spiderman. It ran as a mini-series and was a glimpse 50 years into the future after all of the superheroes were defeated by the supervillains. The reason I wanted to post this was that I had heard mention of the Venomsaurus Rex (yes, that sounds as cool as it looks) and immediately picked up the graphic novel of the story just based on that. I know it’s cheesy and over the top but the combination of the two creatures is the greatest idea ever. The idea of the Venom symbiote attaching itself to a T-Rex is straight out of the steroid fueled comic books of the 90′s and is obviously a general nod to the fact that Venom is a direct result of that time period and the cultural uprising of comic book themselves. Venom gave a much needed dose of crazy and machismo to a flagging industry and is an important character for helping to revive the industry. Obviously Mark Millar (the writer on Old Man Logan) saw that the teaming of the two would be the ultimate in bad-assery. What’s great is that Sideshow Collectibles has decided to reproduce a maquette of this awesome creature for the masses. The price is way out of my range but I can still marvel (hehe) at it’s ferocity. The only thing that approaches the coolness of this creature is Batman fighting a shark with a lightsaber:

That’s right shark, Batman doesn’t even need the fucking lightsaber to kill you but he knew it would be cooler this way.
