I don’t want to get too technical on you guys but this has me really excited. At Apple’s press conference today Epic, the developer of the Gears of War series, unveiled there push to get their amazing game engine, Unreal 3, up and running on iPhone and iPod touch hardware (iPad included). They have a game coming out soon titled Project Sword. You can’t play with that at the moment but if you have the right hardware (and I know many of you do) you can download a great tech demo off of the App Store for free. Search for Epic Citadel and download the 20 MB sucker. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. The screenshot above is a screen grab from inside the demo and just goes to show that the iPod and iPhone are serious contenders for handheld gaming. As far as Epic Citadel goes it is a great example of what can be visually achieved on your little pocket device and the controls are great for a touch screen FPS (First Person Shooter). Unfortunately there isn’t a lot of action in the demo but the graphics are what shine. Check it out and have fun walknig aroun in the environment they’ve put together for you. Here are some more screens to whet your appetite. (Screens courtesy of NeoGAF)
