Let’s start off the post with a great picture of an AT-AT snow fort. This guys apparently wanted to make it too scale but threw that idea out the window once he got started. Who cares though, because you can actually crawl through it which is just cool. (via Geeks are Sexy)
Also, today, the release date and price was announced for the upcoming blu ray collection of the entire Star Wars saga. It’s up for pre-order on Amazon as well as the two trilogies being available separately for you hateful beings that believe there is no redeeming quality to the prequels. If you are of the that sort then I’ve got the guy for you. No seriously, those movies were shit but I’m still somehow entertained by them. The blu rays will come with over 30 hours of bonus content of which I’m sure will include the original uncut masterpieces of the first trilogy. Probably not though cuz Lucas is an asshole. Han shot first!!!!!! Here’s the press release: (via Gizmodo)

Flanked by a legion of his finest Imperial Stormtroopers, Darth Vader himself joined Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment President Mike Dunn at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to announce the release, vowing “The forces of the Empire will be at your disposal to assure the success of this endeavor.”“The Star Wars Saga is the most anticipated Blu-ray collection since the launch of the high-def format,” Dunn said. “The epic franchise pioneered sound and visual presentation in theaters and is perfectly suited to do it again in the home, with a viewing experience only possible with Blu-ray.”

Back to the Future is one of my favorite movie series of all time. It’s execution is top notch and the story is a classic. Earlier this year, a new chapter in the series was revealed as an adventure game. They’ve got Christopher Lloyd cast as Doc Brown and the guy who does Marty’s voice sounds just like Michael J. Fox. This trailer gets me all kinds of excited. (via Gametrailers)
I’ve expressed my rage at the current situation for LGBT people in our country in regards to their rights and subsequent harassment. The video above is another great example of acceptance and love. Pixar is really taking a risk here as their product is invariably family friendly and many people in this country would have you believe that alternative relationships and family structures are the antithesis of “proper” family values. Obviously those dimwits are wrong and Pixar has made a bold stand in fighting against that with this video. Good on you Pixar. (via Ain’t It Cool News)
My girlfriend works in the entertainment industry and got this astounding e-mail. Is it real? Probably not, but I’ve worked on enough low-budget/no-budget gigs that it has a hint of truth to the wackiness of this town. Enjoy!
I have a script. It has lots of words that I have spent many years on to ensure it is spelled correctly. The spacing is immaculate and the punctuation is almost entirely correct. We have used some award-winning fonts and it has been printed at the same shop as many academy-award nominated scripts. The story is about this famous guy that does some stuff with some other people. It is an “original” idea based on a book we strongly believed an Oscar winner almost read last summer while on break from filming that movie that has next years “Best Picture” buzz all over it.
We are looking for anyone that might know how to make a movie. We are especially interested in people that either know how to use some sort of camera or have seen someone else use one in the past. I am told we may also require some people that might have some experience pretending to be the people in this very well-formatted script. They would be required to know how to read. Again, this shouldn’t be a problem as the font size in the script is quite large and we tried not to make any of the words too hard to pronounce.
The high profile of this project will ensure that everyone will work for free and bring a pot luck every day. We are hoping to get at least 5 or 6 people on the crew, so the days will be short. I intend to direct this myself as I have seen movies in the past and already have the chair. I also fully intend to have a book on directing available to me before the shoot begins. I do have experience making flip books and doodling on cocktail napkins. I also have a great deal of experience taking direction as people have been telling me where to go most of my adult life.
If this sound like a project you would like to get involved with, I will be taking interviews at Starbucks on Ventura. Please show up between 10:15 and 10:30 as that is when I have my break.
The great comic book writer who saw life as it really was and had a knack for writing about it passed away today. I never really knew about Mr. Pekar and his work until I saw the sublimely beautiful movie “American Splendor” which to this day is among my favorite comic book movies of all time. The movie was a mix of narrative, documentary, and animation and was a peculiar glimpse into the life of a file clerk who felt comics were a storytelling medium for more than just superheroes. He proved that the ordinary could be splendorous and he will be missed. (Via The Huffington Post)
Here’s to one of my favorite holidays. I’d like to wish peace and love to everybody from my past and present and especially those who served and are serving. Here’s to my hometown, Boston, the birthplace of this great idea of a nation for free people. Finally, here’s a video of my favorite part of the 4th. Enjoy the fireworks:
Well, that wasn’t quite what I was expecting but it’s actually pretty cool. It’s about 4 inches by 4 inches and has the normal cast of Mario characters. I guess hoping for the entire Smash Brothers Brawl cast instead would be expecting too much. I’m surprised the rewards were announced so soon as last year we had to wait for a couple of weeks. Also, the same as last year the Gold Member reward is a 2011 calender:
I have the option to choose either one so I’m going to go for the statue (well, as soon as Nintedo’s website actually starts working I will). So there you have it. This bad boy will be shipped in December and as soon as I get my hands on it I’ll post some pics.
So….. I’ve delved into the world of blogging… I’m sorta nervous and really excited and kind of drained from just having to figure out how to get WordPress going. I can say that I’m going to do my damnedest to make sure to bring you the insight and love that I have for everything to do with Pop Culture. I’ve been raised on TV, Movies, Videogames, Music, Art and everything else in between and I live, eat and breath these things so hopefully the fresh perspective will hit you just right. So here’s to a new beginning and something fresh…. STAY TUNED!!!
