It Was In Front Of Us All This Time

Apparently, Nintendo felt that a good way to show you how much fun Super Mario Bros. could be, was to show Mario dying on the cover. Who knew?

The First Pic Submitted For My First Photo Class

I went, appropriately enough for me,  retro when I was asked to take photos of something “Traumatic” in my life for my first photo class in school. The trauma is that this NES was lovingly played and cared for for 23 years and it finally took it’s last digital breath. I got it in 1986 as an amazing scavenger hunt orchestrated by my loving parents on my 7th birthday. Little did they know that it would lead down an amazing path of a much loved hobby that turned into my love writing and design as well as my on again off again career in the games industry. Thanks Mom and Dad.

Some French Asshole Wrecks Havoc on Paris Streets In A Mario Kart

That title may seem a little harsh, but this guy could hurt someone. What the fuck am I saying? This shit is hilarious. My favorite part is when he stops inside a grocery store to replenish his bananas. I always figured you just pick them up out of the sparkly boxes in the road but Mario (Remi Gaillard) proves me wrong. This is the second video in the real life Mario Kart series. Checl out his first below for even more wacky French hijinks. (via Destructoid)

Contra Sweater Is Just This Side Of Gaudy…But I Want It

I want this sweater and I want to fast forward Christmas RIGHT NOW! (You get an extra 99 Lives if you input the Konami Code while wearing it.)(via Geeks Are Sexy)

Kid Falls Onto Subway Tracks While Gaming On His PSP

The title says it all, though, I’d really like to know what game he was playing. (via The Huffington Post)

LittleBigZelda

I’ve only just started to dabble in the world of LittleBigPlanet 2. The guy who made this appears to have mastered the game though, by recreating the first dungeon from the classic NES game,  The Legend of Zelda. I’m unbelievably impressed by the level of detail this guy has created by using the in-game assets from LittleBigPlanet. Hopefully Nintendo doesn’t try to quash this endeavor and we can get the full game going on. (via Joystiq)

Mega Man Wily Wars

I’ve been lacking in the post department recently because of my new found obsession of scouring the many varied thrift stores and pawn shops in the greater Los Angeles County. Ah, who the fuck am I kidding? I’m being lazy, but, I also have been busy with said thrifting. In fact the amount of pop culture treasure I’ve uncovered has been staggering. I plan on writing up some of the other wonderful things I’ve scavenged but for now, I thought I’d list this beauty.

I actually came across this in a pawn shop. I usually avoid these places as their gaming selection’s can be sparse and overpriced. Therefore, I was surprised when I discovered this little Xbox gem.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II is a semi-rare game from the Xbox line-up and has a pretty good resale value. Especially when I got it for just $5.

As I was looking through the cases I saw the blue Mega Man box that was surprisingly for the SEGA Mega Drive, which was the European version of the classic SEGA Genesis. I had my trusty iPhone with me, which makes researching stuff on the spot a breeze, but I ran into a hitch when the Wily Wars game didn’t show up on eBay. I wasn’t really able to discern it’s value but I liked that it was a Mega Man game on a SEGA system which at that time was somewhat unusual. The price tag read $7.95 but when they rang me up they only charged me $2. That was even better as I figured I culd at least make my money back.

After getting home, I did some research and discovered that it’s a somewhat rare game that was only released in Europe and Japan and a few other territories and has an amazing resale value. It’s a compilation of the first three Mega Man games with some revamped graphics. I threw it up on eBay so check it out. I’m psyched to see what it ends up selling for. I’ve also got some more pics in the gallery below for you crazy people who like the ultra sultry and sexy close-ups.

Funky NES Controller Lamp

I came across this monstrosity in my internet wanderings today. It’s up for pre-order on eStarland.com for a cool $77.95 with a March 23 release. I’m not really sure what the shade is made out of though it looks almost like a shag rug type material. The base looks a bit off too as it’s chrome or polished aluminum. I think a PVC gray, like the controller would have been a better choice, maybe as a powder coat. Ah well. The price is a bit crazy as all I really would want would be the shade.

Professor Layton And A Gun

Zombie Yoshi’s Coming To Get You Barbara!

This is almost as cool as the last custom Yoshi I posted about. In fact if you are just going to go by Yoshi’s tongue, this disgusting looking thing wins. I mean, his tongue is hanging out of the side of his mouth through his teeth.

The artist, Kodykoala, who also happened to make Mecha Yoshi, has it up for sale on eBay. It’s got about a day left and currently sits at about $150. I’m sure this will go for quite a bit more so proceed with caution. Check out the gallery below for more pics. (via Game Sniped)
