That’s quite a nice toy up there. Except it’s not a toy. This is the toy.

As a kid, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were the be-all end-all of cool toys. Yeah, G.I. Joe’s were great as well as Transformers. But these guys were just so awesome that it hurt not to have them. I never did get the TMNT Van, though I did get the blimp.

Now a very industrious fan of the aforementioned turtles, Brittney Schneck, took on the task of converting a Dodge Caravan into that most awesome of action vehicles. The reason for a Caravan instead of the VW Bus? Well, I’m glad you asked ‘cuz Brittney will explain:

**JUST A QUICK NOTE WHY I CHOSE A CARAVAN FOR A TURTLE VAN…
…as everyone pretty much knows, the “real” Turtle Van was a VW.  I did not want to go with a VW bus or van for many reasons, but more important are the reasons why I chose a Caravan.  I chose a Caravan because they are easy to find parts for (at least where I live), easy to work on, comfortable for me to drive, and also for a family reason.

The Turtles played a huge role in my childhood, growing up with all my male cousins, playing Ninja Turtles while my Uncle Harry (Uncle Shredder) chased us around doing an exact voice of The Shredder.  He used to drive us all around in his Caravan, and when I see one, I just think of the Turtles and all the memories.**

Well, that sounds fine to me. I have to say that her choice of van really doesn’t matter because this thing is fucking awesome. She did all of the restoration and fabrication on her own. She also has access to a finishing shop that her dad owns and also where she works part time so her skills have been finely honed on other less spectacular projects. Even better is that she maintained another party time job and was in college the entire time so all of this effort was really Herculian. And now she gets to drive around in this most rad of rides.
