The great comic book writer who saw life as it really was and had a knack for writing about it passed away today. I never really knew about Mr. Pekar and his work until I saw the sublimely beautiful movie “American Splendor” which to this day is among my favorite comic book movies of all time. The movie was a mix of narrative, documentary, and animation and was a peculiar glimpse into the life of a file clerk who felt comics were a storytelling medium for more than just superheroes. He proved that the ordinary could be splendorous and he will be missed. (Via The Huffington Post)
